Is mydeco 3D the right tool for me?
Hi, I'm moving shortly into a ground floor Victorian flat . I've sold or otherwise disposed of much of my furniture and am starting pretty much from scratch. I've bought a few pieces already - even though I haven't got a moving date yet and am trying to decide what else I need and have some ideas about how to fit it all together. I've been playing with the 3D tool but am struggling with knowing how to "populate" my room with either my existing furniture or new purchases if I can't find anything the right size/shape/colour? For instance I have bought a Ligne Roset sofa & armchair on ebay - they're not in the list. I can find a sofa of right size/colour but no matching armchair. I've seen a table I like but can only find a smaller table of same shape on here. Not sure if I'm missing something obvious here but I've just spent an hour trawling through messages to try and find some answers. Any help appreciated;)

The planner tool is not intended to contain every piece of furniture ever made but to offer a selection of representational items. You can ask for specific items to be rendered and added to the catalogue but that may not happen straightaway since there is quite a long wishlist already.
Ultimately only you can decide if this planner is for you - but I would suggest you will not find such a large catalogue of items in any other 3d planner tool.

I think mydeco will do for you, as nonehpets have said you can't get all the furniture here (nor anywhere else), you can plan stuffs like where to put what etc, and can also ask for help from the community, we would be glad to help you.

Thanks for your response nonehpets. I understand that it can't have examples of everything but I was hoping if I found for instance a sofa of roughly the right shape and size I'd be able to change its colour. Or if I found a table the right shape I'd be able to drag its dimensions out a bit. I'm a totally new to interior design, despite being 50+, but have an opportunity now to experiment and find a style I like instead of making do with stuff that I've acquired or inherited over the years.
It does seem a useful tool so maybe if I approach it in the right way and don't expect it to 100% match my reality I'll find it helpful.I'm already thinking the sofa I've bought may be too large!
Thanks again.

Thanks. I think it will be helpful to play around with how to place furniture especially as I'm a bit spacially challenged. So I will pursue it further and I guess the more you use it the easier it becomes to tweak things. I'm sure I will be back to ask the community for more help.
I noticed from looking at some of the room layouts on the site that quite a number contain things that are no longer available - is there a way of copying or cloning them in some way to put in your own room layout?

Yes, you can open up that person's design then click on that item. It will bring it up and then you can read the details. Before closing the design put the name in the search box to see if it will come up. If it doesn't try typing in the name of the company and search their furniture items. Write down the name so you can find it again in your own design. :)

Okay well we cannot change colours of things - it would be fab if we could though (hint MyDeco!)
In terms of 'stretching a table' - well you cannot change table sizes (or sideboards or cupboards or rugs) either but some products would let you put two overlapping next to each other so it filled the space you wanted - be aware though that somethings stack up so they couldn't work that way for you. Curtains are harder but the range of options is getting bigger all the time - blinds you can place next to each other and move up/down on the wall (by going into 3D view) and make them look bigger
Have you discovered the Moodboard tool as yet? if not you could do your spacial planning in the 3d tool and then create a moodboard with clipped images of the actual furniture you would choose - the best o both worlds.

I used moodboards a lot when I brought my most recent house. it was a really useful tool coupled with the image
clipper to get the feel and decorative ideas for everything from the entrance hall to the guest loo. now a year on its great looking back and seeing how close I am to my original ideas.
