Window dressing old building's windows
How do you window dress old beautiful church/Victorian windows? Warmth and privacy is needed without distracting from the large pointed shapes of the window.

My suggestion is to put made-to-measure venetian blinds on. That way you don't disturb the frame and the shape of the window. Or you could have shutters made which would go with the period of the house better.Report post

if you have arched windows and you want to keep the shape i would suggest hanging voile curtains with a pinch pleat heading that you can make in the shape of the arch by making a template of the shape then you can velcro them on using a light coloured velcro so that it wont be seen. The curtains will join in the middle at the centre of the point and you can drape them back using tie backs or hold backs. I would suggest that you ask a curtain maker to make the curtains as this can be quite complicated if you are not a confident sewer.Report post

I would suggest made to measure wooden venetian blinds. Wood adds warmth and depth to a window whilst allowing you to control the amount of light perfectly by tilting them open or closed. You should be able to get them neatly fitted onto the window frames no problem.
