Ellen Walsh's design is featured in The Telegraph!
Congratulations to Ellen Walsh who is the first winner of The Telegraph competition, where community members are asked to redesign a room withb the 3D room planner, which they have only seen a photo of.
Here is the
living room week 1 by ellenwalsh for this week:

So not only has Ellen been on the homepage this week, she has also been picked by a national paper to have her designs featured, as well as get her design scrutinised by world famous designer, Kelly Hoppen!
Hope you're pleased Ellen! We haven't heard much from you, it would be great to hear your feedback on Kelly's review of your work.
Stay tuned to the mydeco blog to see the harsh but professional words from Kelly Hoppen!
See the rest of the competition entries here.
As soon as we know who will be featured this coming weekend we will be sure to shout about it!

I did however answer your direct question didn't I? Yes, they super rendered her room for the homepage!?
What else do you need to know and I will happily help.

Did they super render Ellen's room for the feature on the homepage? And if the room was in such poor shape, why in the world would it be picked for the home page to begin with.
And I am totally not believing the garbage that you needed a new and an old members room because both were "old" members. Compared to them I am a brand spanking new babe.
And I am tired of the ongoing implications that "quiet" members are better than vocal ones.
Finally (until I think of more things to say) since mydeco is so interested in promoting quiet and basically inactive members, you had better get busy----You only have 69,765 more to promote!
[And no this is not personal, Clare, I understand you only can repeat the garbage they give you.]

I spoke to the designers here and they say that Ellen's room was given a 'super render' because the light was so bad. Maybe during this they zoomed in to avoid the distracting black light, in the hope that Kelly Hoppen would be kinder to this quiet member of ours!
This also means mydeco looks 'better' to the 'outside' world, hopefully bringing in positive publicity and new members to build and grow our wonderful, creative and friendly community.
It'll only be good for us all in the end and all that..
Let's hope 2nd week is more straight forward! xx

I understand that mydeco is not responsible for what the Telegraph does, but surely mydeco is responsible for its own actions!

Clare, the link at the bottom of the article on the telegraph page goes to Jo's living room competition. The way it looks at the moment, it really can't be a good advert having all those half finished and empty rooms on there.

What else were you complaining about let me see... ah the camera angle, yes when I look at the original photo I see exactly the same angle, so not sure what you're saying here. I guess it is zoomed in more? The rooms have the same angle, please see photo of week 1 for evidence. So I do not see any rules that are broken..
But yes, it is hard running a competition with a national paper who unfortunately have more to worry about than unhappy community members, and more worried about huge deadlines.
It's their competition.

(Note to self: Place deer head on a brick wall, add a pig table and a cow hide rug on the floor in order to win next comp.)
But most interesting of all is that THE ALTERED ROOM WHICH WON THE TELEGRAPH COMPETITION IS ALSO ALTERED ON THE MYDECO HOMEPAGE THAT WAS RELEASED LAST THURSDAY.
Now how could it be that Ellen's original room was "accidentally" altered twice in the exact same manner and then featured on the homepage one week and as the "winner" of a completely separate competition the following week?
Gee, anyone got any ideas on how that could have happened?
SylviaAst
The black ceiling lamp has been removed as well as items on the nearest table beside the sofa. And the camera angle has been adjusted even further from the original angle.
Its like the "spot the differences" game on the comics page of the newspaper.
So congratulations not just to Ellen, but to EVERYONE that altered this room also.
Perhaps we should all enter empty rooms into this competition so they can more easily be altered to fit the rules of and/or the judge of the day.

Sorry Clare, but you probably wont hear from Ellen, as she has been here 17 months, but only has created 3 rooms and 2 mood boards. Clearly she does not spend much time contributing to mydeco.
But I understand, it is your responsibility to notice the least of the contributors too.
:)

But how could an entry that clearly changed the camera angle and displayed an alternate view of the room be the winner?
Dear oh dear, what happened to those rules and terms and conditions? Guess they were a farce (like much of mydeco) and went out the window once again!
Or perhaps no one bothered to let Miss Hoppen know the rules of the competition?
I KNEW THIS WOULD HAPPEN WHICH IS WHY I STARTED COMPLAINING 2 MONTHS AGO ABOUT THE LACK OF CLARITY IN THE COMPETITIONS! FAT LOT OF GOOD IT DID ME THOUGH!
Warmest Regards,
Sylvia
