Multiple selection, bigger renders & bugfixes
Hello.
First of all, apologies for the long silence. I have been busy in and out of work recently and haven't had much time for blogging. We've spent the last few weeks working on some nasty bugs as well as new functionality. We've also made some major changes required for implementing some of the more highly requested features.
As some of you have already mentioned, we had two big bugs: Not great lighting for some rooms and room saving errors. The team who are working on rendering have made some improvements to lighting recently and will keep working on further improvements, so I expect many of the worst issues should be fixed really soon. Some advice: If your room renders too dark, put windows in the room, even if they are behind the camera.
The bug reported with room saving is related to room complexity: number of walls, finishes and components (furniture and other items). The internal representation of the room is limited in size due to some technical reasons. It looks like with new planner users tends to create more complicated rooms with more furniture, often putting many hundreds of products into the room. We've already made some changes to reduce the size of room data together with increasing the room size limit. The problem is not completely solved yet but we are working hard on this. If your still cannot save your room, please try to delete some unused furniture.
Some recent new features:
-
You are now able to work with multiple products simultaneously. Just press shift key on your keyboard while selecting products/windows/doors/walls/corners. You will be able to drag-n-drop all selected items at once, as well as duplicate/delete them with your keyboard.
-
Snapping is now disabled by default. To enable it push alt key on your keyboard while dragging.
-
The large render is now larger :) (800x600 instead of 640x480).
-
Application behaviour improvements for low resolution displays.
-
We have made a number of smaller bugfixes.
Thanks for your patience and great rooms.
Dmitry

I love this website so much, and when these problems are ironed out it has the potential to be the first port of call for everyone in the country who is thinking of doing anything in their home, even just getting new wallpaper.
