Knoll was founded in 1938 by Hans and Florence Knoll. Hans was the business brains whilst Florence provided the creative direction. Florence was an interior designer, trained amongst others by Mies van der Rohe and the architect Eliel Saarinen (Father of Eero Saarinen). Knoll was formed, and at its centre were many of the most celebrated designers of all time.
